Hello Dr. Does using methylpred 8mg once a day for 17 days and 4mg for 5 days to taper off comes under the extensive use of steroids causes black fungus? Patient is not diabetic, bp or other problem. No oxygen support, no icu addmission. Age 56. Just recovered. Only weakness.

As a ENT surgeon I can tell u that it's never the alone use of steroid causes this, But in this wave this has emerged as a major causes along with immunity disturbances by covid infection. U should be cautious since age of ur father is on higher side.
