My dad age 69 yr stomach cancer stage 4. Previous doctor dint do biomarkers testing. After one year he has got cancer back in stomach and liver. So planing to do biomarkers testing with one year back biopsy block. Will the biomarkers remain same after treatment?? His treatment was capox chemo for 4 months and capacetabine maintanence tablet for 10 months

It is always preferable to do a repeat biopsy from the recurrent disease site for decision on further treatment.
However if patient was never disease free during the course of treatment then we can use the previous blocks for molecular studies to avoid cumbersome procedures
