Bilateral renal pelvi calyceal ectasia.
Hi, my wife is pregnant and 34 weeks running. my question is last usg scan done on 34 weeks shows baby is having bilateral pelvi calyceal ectasia. ? significance. what is that meaning? what will be the treatment ? is there any chance to have any problems in future ? left renal pelvis is 6mm and right renal pelvis is 8mm. kindly advice.

The diametrical values that you have mentioned in the particular period of gestation is near normal. Important things to remember is to have confinement of pregnancy in a place where there is good neonatal care. The child has to undergo a Ultrasound of Abdomen to assess the pelvic diameter. Based on the findings, further evaluation needs to be done. If the kidney swelling is bilateral, the vesicoureteric reflux and infra vesical obstruction needs to be ruled out
