Betheran25
My son age 5 , weight 26 kg has autism and is being given betheran 25- half tablet/ twice a day from last year as it helps to improve autism symptoms. This time when I ordered the medicine, it got delayed and he went without it for about a week. During this week, he has been peeing a lot more than usual. He was toilet trained but has been peeing in his pants and had to be put on diaper. As per my understanding, betheran25 is used for urine retention. Is it possible that his body has become habituated to this and it is some kind of withdrawal symptom. Can it be corrected?

Cant exactly say what could be the cause for his increased urination now. But yes some medicines cause habituation. Thing is Betheran or Bethanechol causes incresed urination . So stopping it should actually cause difficulty in urination . Whstever it is , using the drug for a long time may not be safe.
Next Steps
Better consult a paediatric neurologist or regualr neurologist for further treatment .
