Hi. Interesting question. From experience, all iron supplements are usually associated with some of the gastric issues as you've quite clearly mentioned so it's difficult to avoid that. However if its given for the right indication (for eg iron deficiency anemia or in premature babies to prevent anemia, etc), the iron is well utilized by the body with little to none adverse effects. In my practice, I have found raricap to have better suitability/patient preference compared to the other iron containing salts/colloidal iron (tonoferon). Also ferrous sulphate if you can get your hands on it (provided that there is an actual indication for giving iron to your baby) is also quite palatable thereby helping with their daily compliance and not associated with usual blackish staining of tongue and stools (normally seen with oral tonoferon).
