I wore braces for a year. During that period , when 9 months had got over , some smell started coming.. After 3 months i removed the braces .. I used tongue scrapper , mouthwash for 3 weeks now continuously. Still i feel like no change. I visited a dentist he told me that bacteria got accumulated in the 1 year period of braces and it will take 1 month or so to get rid of bad breath.

Bad breath or halitosis can be due to a number of reasons. Brushing twice daily and using a tongue scrapper would definitely help together with mouthwash. After removal of braces professional scaling that is cleaning is must. Other things that would help are optimum water intake , curd, warm water with salt gargle and fibrous diet. This things would help you to clean your mucosa lining. Ask your dentist if you need to meet gastroenterologist if the halitosis origin is not of oral origin.
Health Tips
look for habits like mouth opening during sleeping which can be tested by looking at your pillow for saliva marks. Avoid food like garlic and onion for few days. increase water intake and fibrous diet.
You have not mentioned if you got scaling and polishing done after removal of braces. If not you must do that. Secondly if the composite of the braces is still stuck to the tooth it may make that area rough and accumulate plaque. Make sure you get cleaning done every 6 months
