For bad breath : there may be deposition of plaque and calculus intraoral cause and they need frequent removal and deposition may be interdentally and on tonque halitosis results For calculus: the deposition may be aggravated due to irregular positioning of teeth.

U require cleaning of teeth at the first place It may be of two options depends on the amount of plaque and tartar formation and your gums status Treatment options are 1 Scaling and polishing (normal cleaning of teeth in case of less deposites) 2 Curretage and Root planning (in case of more deposites and givgival and periodontal status (gums) )

Scaling mandatory Every 8-12 months at least. Follow proper brushing techniques. If crowding of teeth, difficult to clean. Go for scaling every 8 months interval maximum or get orthodontic treatment done.

Bad breath is common is tartar (calculus) deposits. You require a through clean up (deep scaling) If deposits are recurring this means you are unable to maintain good oral hygiene .
Next Steps
You have to follow good oral hygiene regime like: brushing your teeth twice, use dental floss at least once a day. Use a chlorhexidine mouthwash twice a day (10ml) or do warm salt water gargle.
