Baby vomits after taking vitanova d3
Hi, My baby is completed 6 months today. I have observed that my baby vomits sometimes at initially I felt it could be because of over feeding. But on few days ago I given him vitanova d3 drops even after giving 2-3 drops he got aspirated and vomited. And the same happened yesterday night too. Can I change the medicine ? Or any other brand do I need to use? Please suggest.

Hi your baby has completed 6 months .What was the feed given during last 6 months. Have you given exclusive breast feeding or started any other feed .formula feeding  Have you started an any complimentary feeding now Please do the Burping well after each feed, as otherwise air swallowed during feed will cause reflux   May be the taste of the medicine Vit D3 not liked by child Mix it with Expressed breast milk and try ..or stop the medicine for days and observe .Then you can makeout whether it is due to by D3
Next Steps
observe if the child has fever cold cough .In that case consult  doctor
Health Tips
As the child has completed 6 months it is time to start Complimentary feeding as breast feeding alone is not sufficient from this age to meet all the nutrient requirement of the child .  Start  Complimentary feeding gradually from liquid to semisolid to solid consistency Thoroughly wash your hands and also vessels you use for preparing complimentary feed  to prevent any infection/ Contamination   Dr NR SURESH

Hi, is your baby breastfed or on formula? What colour is the vomitus?...do you burp the baby well after every feed?...does the baby vomit everytime after a feed?is the weight gain adequate..? Usually there may be some amount of reflux causing vomiting especially on bottle/formula fed babies...if the baby is otherwise well and gaining good weight, then upright positioning and good burping after every feed is enough ...But if the reflux is severe then the baby may fail to gain weight or thrive in which case the baby needs a thorough evaluation... Cannot perse attribute the vomiting to the vitamin D  drops...But if you wish to change you may..There are plenty of  other brands available... Hope this helps...

You can try giving it mixing with breast milk . Express 1 tea spoon if breast milk and mix prescribed dose of vitamin D3 and then you can feed. If baby vomits this also then please consult your doctor. Don’t continue if baby is making aspiration sound. Consult your doctor immediately.
