Hello
Please open the mouth of the baby and put nipple in his mouth manually. Suckling reflex is something that infants are born with. So he should immediately start suckling as soon as he finds nipple in his mouth.
Feed as many times as he/she cries and as much as she produces or until the baby shows symptoms of satiety . If that is not possible, consider expressing the milk using various breast pumps available in the market and feed with katori-chammach (bowl-spoon). Avoid artificial nipples unless prescribed by a doctor.
If your wife has any disorder in her breasts because of which nipples are being not held in the baby's mouth or needs help breastfeeding, please start a consultation with a pediatrician
