Baby is refusing to take breast milk
Hello doctor, my baby is 1 month and 11 days. My problem is my baby who used to take breast milk easily is pushing away and refusing to take breast milk. This has been happening since the past 3 plus days. I had to take a medication of Tranexamic acid for heavy menstrual bleeding for 3 days and I noticed my baby started refusing to take my breast milk ever since I started taking the medication. I stopped taking the med but she is still refusing to nurse. Is there a problem with my baby? Worried.

If the baby is active, taking top feeds and passing urine normally, then nothing is wrong with him. You need to check your milk output, has it decreased? Give your feeds at a gap of atleast 2 to 2-1/2 hours, followed IMMEDIATELY by top formula feed using a spoon and katori. If baby is taking top feeds well, that means your lactation has decreased,in which case meds can be prescribed for you. You must take a good healthy balanced diet and ensure a good gap between feedings and ofcourse,a relaxed state of mind,as stress can decrease milk output.
