Asked to remove tooth after infection
Hi, I have been asked to remove the not fully erupted wisdom tooth, because of infection. I have swelling and pain near wisdom tooth area. I have the following doubts: 1. I have been asked to remove the above molar as well(which is perfectly grown). The reason given is that it might damage the below gums. Should i get it removed? 2. I have been quoted 5k for removal of one tooth. This looked little unreasonable to me. Is it okay to pay 5k for removal of one tooth? Thank you in advance.

Yes most of times when pain is there then we have to extract wisdom teeth. Removal of wisdom tooth is a surgery and removal of unerupted tooth is very tough . Go ahead fees is very very nominal.

1) It will good to extract upper third molar along with disimpaction of lower unenerupted third molar in many ways so get it removed both of them. 2) Disimpaction fee you mention is routine one.

Hi Sir It is always advisable to remove upper wisdom tooth when lower has to be removed because when your lower tooth will be removed upper one will not have antagonist and it will start to move downward (supraerupt) and eventually will injure lower gums. Coming to charges dentist charge their fees according to their expertise. You may find some dentist who charge more than 5k per tooth.
Next Steps
Don't worry trust your dentist and remove both upper and lower wisdom tooth. Hope it helps.

Hi If the infected tooth is the last tooth i.e 3rd molar or wisdom tooth and it has not erupted completely and u have pain then it means it is impacted or partially impacted then it should be surgically removed. The doctor may charge u between 4k to 5k. You may need an oral surgeon for the procedure
