Arthritis (Knee pain)
My mother is 73 years old. She is currently suffering from arthritis for the past six months. Medications did not help. Is knee cap replacement is the only option? What is the success percentage? Please suggest if there is any alternative? - Karthik

Hello... Knee replacement is not the old option for knee arthritis... there are plenty of other options... most important amongst them is weight reduction and exercises (knee exercises and walking)... patients are also prescribed braces , walking stick and medications do help... if all these fail then total knee replacement is the option Knee replacement is a safe surgery if done by a trained Orthopaedic surgeon... it is one of the most commonly performed Orthopaedic surgery and has got excellent results...
