Clinical trials are designed to be safe. Before a new cancer treatment is tested on large numbers of patients, its safety is already checked in smaller Phase II studies. By the time it reaches a big phase III trial, doctors already know the common side effects. These larger trials mainly help confirm how well the treatment works and how well patients tolerate it. Any expected side effects or complications will be mentioned in the informed consent form. Pls go through them before enrolling in the trial.
