Any infection seen on this x-ray.
I have severe pain in the back molar and the gums. Severe throbbing pain always and taking ibuprofen which is not helping..went to dentist and he said x-rays looks ok and suggested SRP for plaque. He said that could be the reason for this pain on that tooth. Went to oral surgeon and he pressed down the tooth with his fingers. It was so painful in the back and distal side of the tooth. He said something wrong on that tooth and suggested extraction. I am scared to do extraction as I did remove my first molar for the same reason that it was painful for years without any findings on the scans. Had 4 cbct scans. Throbbing only on the side and back of tooth. Side of the tooth which is towards 48. Few dentist here told me about root stumps of 48. I asked about that to the surgeon. He said he don't see any infection there as I have removed 48 ten years ago. So he said that shouldn't cause pain. Is removing the second molar a good idea? I have severe gum pain in that tooth. Gum swollen.

One can't see infection on x-rays Infection can only be traced out with sampling it and done microscopic examination with pus cell finding But the darkened image around the root area is suggestive of some lesion which may or may not contain pus Rest already explained Thanks
