Antibiotics during kidney treatment
Hello Dr, my dad has creatinine of 2.5 and right kidney is small. He has tooth issues and hence for performing any minor tooth surgery would mean he has to be on antibiotics. Dentist has asked to consult nephrologist whether to give antibiotics and what dosage is permissible (also any specific antibiotic suggestions which wil hav less side effects

All antibiotics has to taken after considerations of indication,doses as per body weight , appropriate reduction in doses as per creatinine clearance, and possible side effects. I agree that a physician/ nephrologist should do a clinical examination before prescribing a suitable antibiotics with right doses
