Hello so I went for an appointment to my doctor and she diagnosed me with ADHD but ended up prescribing fluoxetine which is an antidepressant. I am thinking of asking for a replacement should I??

Better get your diagnosis correctly from your treating psychiatrist. If needed get a psychological assessment done. Fluoxetine is not used for adhd but for anxiety and depression as you said. Good luck

Hi.. maybe you are having comorbid depression. Its common to have anxiety/ depression along with ADHD. However will need further history regarding the same to advise appropriately.

If the diagnosis is ADHD, we have to use medications approved for this condition like we have stimulants and non stimulant medication like methylphenidate, atomoxetine and long acting clonidine and guanfacine. But it also depends on the psychiatrist as she has seen you in person, she might have better understanding of the symptoms you are having. Give it some time and trust your doctor's prescription. Rest you can have a discussion regarding the symptoms along with your caregiver.
