Doctor put plaster around 30 days.Later on ,In the month of November found Pus ,dr. done I & D.Now my concern is that swelling not gone after six months. Two days ago I done MRI.After MRI I feel pain.befofe that there is no pain.I also attached MRI report for reference. Please suggest what is best in this Case. Please look into MRI and ankle photos. What is best in that case surgery or medicine will work on that.

Based on your MRI and history, this appears to be a chronic ankle sprain with residual ligament injury and bone marrow edema, which can take many months to settle, especially after prolonged plastering and a past infection (I&D) persistent swelling without active infection is usually due to ligament healing, altered lymphatic drainage and stiffness not pus at this stage, surgery is usually NOT the first option since MRI shows only mild sprain and edema not a complete tear management should focus on ankle support brace elevation ice after activity anti inflammatory medication if tolerated and gradual strengthening while avoiding over-loading pain after MRI positioning is common and temporary if swelling and pain persist beyond 8–10 weeks despite proper conservative care, then an orthopedic foot-ankle specialist review is advised to rule out instability or post-infective changes before considering any surgical option.
