Angioedema
Dears, What was vague or incomplete in my previous same question is not clear hence resent. Till age 40, I could eat guava with salt, spinach, taro leaf with no reaction on my body. Suddenly from age 41, I get swelling on face eyelids, lips, cheeks within 8 hrs of eating such foods. I am beta thalassemia minor, with hypothyroidism and high uric acid. Did my body change from inside at age 42 suddenly that I have to stop certain foods like guava, spinach, taro / colacasia leafs and cannot handle those foods? Eating cauliflower off late, I get pain near kidneys as my body carries high uric acid too. Is allopathy so weak that it cannot treat face swelling symptoms and patient must give up eating such foods lifelong? Whether treatment available for this face swelling if I wish to continue to eat these foods? Why give up certain food is my first question? What tablet will work best?Sincerely,

Thanks for the query. Hives are irritating and difficult to live with. Chronic urticaria is the medical terminology and this condition needs proper assessment. The triggers should be identified. Based on your description, it appears that you have intermittent variable of chronic urticaria. These conditions have strong relation to one's internal health and it needs to be evaluated as often quoted - Skin is the mirror of internal health. Your dermatologist will decide a treatment plan for you after a consultation which probably will include a non-sedative antihistamine and some other medications based on blood chemistry. A common mistake is to take antihistamines as when and needed while it should be taken for a reasonably long time frame in urticaria whether you develop hives or not. After a certain period, it is advisable to wean the treatment. Few advance treatment options also exist which requires once a month treatment. Hope it helps.
