Vitamin b12 dosage

I am asking regarding my daughter. Her vitamin B12 level was 276 pg/ml when we tested previously in July. She then took Nurokind-OD 1500 mcg for 2 months. Now that she has completed the 2-month course, I wanted to ask what maintenance dose of oral vitamin B12  would  be recommended, and for how long should she continue it? Also, when should we repeat her B12 level test?

Are you vegetarian or non vegetarian? How often does she consume chicken /eggs. This will help me determine her maintenance dose. If the levels were that low you need to continue the supplement for at least 3 to 6 months. Optimal levels for B12 are around 600 to 700 Yes you should repeat the test to understand where the levels have reached and how to go about the maintenance dose. Vegetarians often need to rely on supplements even during maintenance period for B12

Since her B12 level was 276 pg/mL, which is on the lower side of the normal range, completing the 2-month course is a good step. However, the appropriate maintenance dose depends on her current B12 level, dietary intake, symptoms, and the reason for the low level. I would recommend repeating her Vitamin B12 test now/around 2–3 months before starting supplementation. Based on the updated level, a maintenance dose can be decided. If her levels have improved adequately, a lower maintenance dose may be sufficient, along with regular dietary sources of B12 such as milk/curd, eggs, fish, chicken or other fortified foods, depending on her diet. If she remains low or has an underlying absorption issue, longer-term supplementation may be required. Please avoid continuing a high-dose supplement indefinitely without reviewing her updated blood report.
Next Steps
Repeat Vitamin B12, and share the report. Then only i can guide you.
