Unable to conceive due to no penetration

2026-09-28 00:33:47
My husband and I are trying to conceive, but we have been unable to have penetrative vaginal intercourse. We are able to have sexual intimacy, but penetration has not been possible. I have already consulted a gynaecologist and was examined; I was told that I do not have vaginismus. I would like to understand what could be causing the difficulty with penetration and which type of doctor or treatment would be appropriate. We would also like advice on our options for conceiving if we continue to have difficulty with penetration.

Kindly let me know more about your sexual history, from your huband's end, regarding, erection and ejaculation. Also conception is possible without penetration with IUI. also certain investigation pertaining to blood test is required. For more information and doubts kindly book a video consultation.

Try being well lubricated You should meet a doctor in person to help you understand why you are having difficulty in penetration if you do not have vaginismus You can use a local anaesthetic gel and try with dilators

Since vaginismus has already been ruled out, difficulty with penetration can still come from other physical causes or from anxiety around intercourse itself. Both are treatable, but they need a proper evaluation to pinpoint which one is affecting you.
Next Steps
A pelvic floor physiotherapist and a sexual medicine specialist together can assess this from both angles. It's worth raising this with your fertility specialist too, since assisted conception options exist if penetration continues to be difficult.
Health Tips
Please don't see this as a permanent block to conceiving. There are several paths forward once the cause is properly assessed.
