My friend is having TSH 8.5 where as T3 and T4 are normal, what should be the  best treatment and for how long medication is required.

TSH as high as 10 but with no symptoms doesn't necessarily requires treatment.Irregular menses,apart from other symptoms is the main criteria to start the treatment.Consult for proper evaluation & prescription
