Thyroid level 8.97 tsh , antibody 60

I got detected with thyroid and the doctor suggested me levothyroxine 25mg. After the diagnosis I am not getting my periods regularly so i took medicine last month. But this month there are no signs and symptoms. Is the medicine dosage wrong? Can thyroid cause total missed period for months? . I am getting very stressed. I am not sexually active for last 2-3 months.

You might be experiencing amenorrhea- absence of menstruation, might due to hypothyroidism. Usually for thyroid dysfunction, the dose started is low and then based on your TFT they up / down the doses.
Next Steps
1. Consult a gynecologist to see if there’s no other causes of amenorrhea 2. Get TFT done after 2months to see if results are improving with this dose
Health Tips
Kindly consult for any other issues

Your thyroid issues (Hypothyroidism) can cause issues  with Periods for sure. 1) Consult a gynae. 2) Get tested for thyroid again after 2 months. If required dosage would be increased. 3) Take care of your diet also.

Hypothyroidism can cause amenorrhea,  I.e. absence of amenorrhea. You can consult a gynecologist physically and get ultrasound uterus done to exclude any other problem. Repeat thyroid function tests after 8 to 12 weeks, then if needed dose of levothyroxine can be increased.

Yes, thyroid imbalance itself can cause irregular or even missed periods. Levothyroxine is usually started at a low dose like 25 mcg and the dosage is adjusted gradually depending on repeat thyroid function tests.
Next Steps
Do a repeat thyroid profile TSH, T3, T4 to check if your current dose is sufficient. Continue taking the medicine daily as prescribed, don’t stop on your own. Stress can also affect periods, so try to keep yourself relaxed.
Health Tips
Please consult your doctor or a gynecologist with your updated test reports. They will adjust the dosage if required and also rule out other causes of missed periods. Since you mentioned no sexual activity recently, pregnancy is not the cause.

Yes , Thyroid disorders usually cause menstrual irregularities. The dosage is usually started minimal to avoid major side effects and regular 3months checkup of thyroid levels is advised to check if the thyroid is under control or is there any need of dose modifications . Try to stay physically active and eat a balanced diet & manage your stress too , as stress is also one of the major risk factor for period delays .
