Thyroid dose confusion

2026-04-06 07:35:13
Hi, I'm a 35-year-old female, 4'11", 57 kg, diagnosed with hypothyroidism 8 years ago. TSH history: Last year: 0.82 μIU/mL This year: 4.558 μIU/mL — significant rise on same dose Current medication: 75 mcg + half of 25 mcg = ~87.5 mcg daily Unchanged for 3–4 years Two doctors, two opinions: Doctor A: Increase to 100 (1.6mcg /kg basis) Doctor B: 88 mcg is fine My calculation: 1.6 mcg × 57 kg = 91.2 mcg ideal dose Neither 88 nor 100 mcg is exact. My questions: TSH jumped from 0.82 4.558 in one year on same dose. Please suggest 88 or 100 mcg.

I suppose Hypothyroidism is better treated by a General Physician by physical consultation rather than Tele-consultation. This is not a life saving emergency.  Nor is it going to be ever treated completely. So there is no point in finding faults with your Doctors. Please consult a third Doctor "C"  if you are not happy with Doctor A and Doctor B.

TSH  within the required range is considered as normal. Consult endocrinologist for thyroid treatment.
