Bleeding from the gums is due to improper oral hygeine which has caused gum inflammation and due to hard brushing .Use soft bristle brush and apply little pressure while brushing your teeth.

Light pressure on the teeth for brushing is enough for proper oral hygiene maintenance.
Bleeding might be due to trauma that hard brushing is causing to the gums, Or there might be calculus deposit.

Contact your dentist for the final diagnosis. If the brushing technique and pressure is at fault avoid brushing too hard. If there is calculus your dentist will do teeth cleaning and the bleeding problem will resolve. Teeth Whitening is more of a cosmetic procedure. It has nothing to do with gum health or bleeding gums

In my general opinion, as a teenager, sometimes there is compromised oral health due to consumption of fast foods which leads to deposition of plaque and calculus around the gums and make them weak. Thats why when you brush a bit harshly, bleeding occurs.
