Lymph node becomes swell when any infection is present on the site which it is draining , in ur fathers case inguinal lymph node were enlarged that means infection can be present near pennis on in leg as u mentioned it was present in leg , so it got improved after getting treatment , so no need to wry , it got improved after infection got treated
