Swollen and bleeding gums
I'm having swollen gums and they bleed sometimes. Also, I've noticed the lower portion of gums has become dark.

swollen and bleeding gums are medically called as GINGIVITIS...It is due to hard and soft deposits (calculus and plaque)....you need to go for deep scaling and polishing(cleaning of teeth)

Swollen gums can be firstly cause of a gum disease called periodontitis, which is caused due to hard deposits taking place around the teeth and below the gum line, secondly swollen gums can also be if you are on medicines for high pressure.
Next Steps
if deposits(calculus) is the cause, get scaling(cleaning) done
if pt is on medicines used to control blood pressure, should consult his treating physician if the dosage can be changed or reduced

Swollen bleeding gums may be because of long-standing deposits. Please get a cleaning of the teeth done. Check with your dentist if u have any periodontal pockets.

I would suggest you periogard mouth wash.Take doxy three times a day and vitamin c once a day.maintain oral hygiene.visit the dentist for professional cleaning.

If all your gums are swollen and bleeding then rinse yiur mouth with lukewarm salt water and go to a dentist for scaling which is the real treatment. With which problem will remain as such. If one gum has this problem then dentist can tell the problem and treatment
