Swelling on face due to toothache

Had a toothache for 2 days and now the toothache is gone but I'm left with a swollen face will the doctor be able to prescribe me with antibiotics while I wait for dentist? Also if I get a dentist appointment will they treat it straight away such as root canal/extraction or will they give me antibiotics for the swelling first?

You will mostly require antibiotics immediately, but you should show it to a dentist to get them prescribed. Which antibiotic to take can only be decided after seeing you. If you have a regular doctor whom you visit then maybe he/she can give you some medicines on the phone. In certain cases treatment needs to be started immediately... Do warm salt water gargles and book an appointment asap. Don't delay .
