Hi doctor, Does sunlight exposure reduce billurubin level in newborn ? What would be the ideal time for the exposure? I heard that we can expose the baby to sunlight anytime during the day while some people say that only morning time exposure is ideal. Please suggest. Thank you.

Sunlight is good for the baby. But the baby may not tolerate it for more than 30 mins to 1 hour. So we advise to keep in sunlight in the early morning or evening when sunlight is mild. Studies show it does not decrease bilirubin by much so we cannot rely on it.

Please consult pediatrician as proper detailed history is not possible on chat in your case and then take medicines.
