Stress and overthinking

Dear Doctor, I have been facing stressful situations at times. Recently married and in course of this marriage when I discuss my point of view with my wife ,instead of understanding me ,she retaliate and get stubborn and take discussion to argument. In same process she makes many statements which may be thrown at me in anger but turns out those words and aggression of her stays in mind and let me overthink. I have been trying to ease her but in such situations I feel very low in confidence which has started to affect me mentally . Sometimes I have sleepless nights, sometimes I feel my heartbeats are rushing at max speeds and sweat, sometimes I breakdown and start crying when I am alone. All these has weakened me from inside and affecting my health and family life as well. Due to sleeplessness at night during day I feel tired and can't concentrate on work. I tried to talk with her to resolve issues but we couldn't reach on stable ground.I get less attention compared to others by her.

The symptoms that you have mentioned are a telltale sign of stress and anxiety. I understand how hurtful your wife's words may have been for you--even if she didn't mean them, you perceived them in a different way and have been overthinking about them. You may be feeling like no one understands you. On top of that, you also mentioned that your wife doesn't pay as much attention to you as she does to others. I think counselling can help you improve your confidence, stress, and relationship with your wife. I invite you to join counselling sessions with me to get to the bottom of your issues.
