Stopped thyroxine for 10'days

2025-06-30 01:37:33
My wife had TSH levels of 10 and she started taking thyroxine 75mg since last one year. Recent tests showed her TSH levels at 1. So we thought of stopping the medication for sometime. She didnt take medicine for 10 days and she started feeling fatigue. So she is restarting it again now. How long will it take to go back to her normal self?

Abrupt stop will cause sudden depletion of thyroxin. Already you were on high dose. It was a bad idea. Restart the dose with 50 mcg for 4 months and recheck ft4 tsh

Thyroid replacement hormone is not to be stopped abruptly. It may have been lab error.Repeat the TSH and free T4 level and alter the dose accordingly, preferably by her physician.
