Thank you for sharing your concerns so openly. I understand how distressing head tremors and the feeling of an “uncomfortable smile” can be, especially when they appear only in front of people. Let me address each of your questions.
1. What is happening—and why?
• Social-performance anxiety can trigger a surge of adrenaline. In some people that manifests as fine tremors of the head/neck and involuntary facial expressions (forced smile, lip tremor, grimace).
• Because the symptoms vanish when you take clonazepam (an anxiolytic) and when you are alone, it reinforces that the origin is functional (anxiety-driven) rather than a structural neurological disorder.
• Still, it is wise to rule out other causes (essential tremor, dystonia,
thyroid imbalance, medication side-effects). If not done already, a brief neurological exam and thyroid panel help exclude those possibilities.
2. Can homoeopathy offer a long-term solution?
Yes—homoeopathy can be helpful because it targets the individual’s stress response rather than the generic label of “anxiety.”
1. Individualised remedy: During a detailed case-taking we look at your temperament, past fears, physical generals, sleep, any childhood events, etc. Only then can we decide on the most suitable medicine (examples Argentum nitricum, Gelsemium, Silicea, etc. are only illustrations; the final remedy may be different).
2. Regulation, not suppression: Unlike clonazepam, a well-selected remedy works by gradually reducing the oversensitive “fight-or-flight” loop instead of merely sedating it.
3. Supportive measures: We nearly always pair the remedy with graded-exposure exercises, breathing practices, and (when appropriate) a few CBT sessions. This integrative programme accelerates progress.
3. How long will it take?
• Initial improvement: Many patients notice lighter tremors, shorter episodes, or more “calm windows” within 4–6 weeks of correct remedy + breathing practice.
• Sustained change: For the nervous system to “re-learn” calmer responses usually takes 6–12 months of periodic follow-up.
• Medication tapering: Once you have 8–12 weeks of stable improvement, we gradually taper clonazepam
Remember: timelines vary with stress load, sleep, caffeine/alcohol intake, and commitment to exercises, so we reassess every month and adjust.
You are welcome to book an appointment at Cure Wellness Centre or share your recent reports so we can plan remotely if that is easier for you.
: Social-performance tremors respond very well to homoeopathy when approached systematically. You are not alone, and with the right plan most patients regain confident, steady interactions within months.
