Hi!
Sittings depends on assessment of how successful the case will be.
If the infection in the concerned tooth is less then single sitting RCT is done.
If infection is more or pain persits- then to let it resolve multiple sitting is opted.
Single sitting RCT - the whole procedure from opening the root part through the crown , removing the infected pulp(nerve), cleaning the root canal and finally filling it with a material which is biocompatible and helps ceasing the bacterial growth- all these are done in a single same sitting.
Next Steps
Dentist will decide whether to go for single or multiple sitting which varies from case to case and person to person.
( even when case is favourable for single sitting if the patient is not co operative or gets tired of keeping the mouth open for long duration then in such cases it is done in multiple sittings.)
Health Tips
Both procedures main aim is to save the tooth and don't trouble you in future.
Don't forget to restore it with a crown post RCT. Take care.
