Recovery after arthroscopic Bankart repair varies from person to person. At 7 months, persistent stiffness may occur due to capsular tightness, reduced shoulder mobility, muscle weakness, scar-tissue restriction, or an inadequate/prolonged rehabilitation progression. Comparing your recovery with others can be misleading, as the extent of injury, surgical repair and healing response differ.
Next Steps
Since stiffness is still significant after 7 months, I would recommend an in-person assessment by your operating surgeon and a physiotherapist. Shoulder ROM, particularly external rotation and elevation, rotator-cuff strength and scapular control should be assessed. A structured physiotherapy programme with appropriate mobility work, progressive strengthening and functional exercises may be required rather than relying only on home exercises.
Health Tips
Do not force aggressive stretching or heavy exercises without assessment, especially after a Bankart repair. If you have increasing pain, recurrent instability/dislocation, clicking with pain, marked weakness or worsening restriction, consult your surgeon promptly.
