Restricted range of motion of the shoulder could be because of varying reasons one of the commonest are periarthritis or commonly known as frozen shoulder and other is known as rotator cuff tear.
Depending on the condition (stage and severity of the injury) the treatment can be provided. before that certain investigations (X-ray , MRI) and clinical examinations differentiate and confirm the diagnosis.
Limited range be because of (1) muscle weakness (2) shortened muscle fibers
in either of two we the therapist needs to rule out the possibilities and then work upon the cause.
I do realise that the lady must be having difficulty in donning and doffing clothes also in bathing and meal preparation and also in driving i.e if she drives.
Now considering the all the above issues, I advice to seek an Occupational Therapist who really can make a change in her life.
