The possible cause of the pain and swelling is your wisdom tooth. Rinsing your mouth 3 to 4 times a day with lukewarm water and salt will help reduce the swelling and pain. You can also take analgesics for pain relief. Kindly consult an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for your treatment.

the pain and swelling may be the result of an infectious process affecting the tooth and gums in that area. Do not self medicate or treat in any way. Visit your nearest dentist and get a diagnosis and proper treatment plan. Depending on the examination, the dentist may advise you to either extract the tooth or get a root canal treatment done. In either case, it requires urgent attention.
