It is very difficult to comment without seeing clinically and X-ray. Curettage is done for a gum problem, when there is a separation of the gums from the tooth and a pocket has formed. Curettage bring back the diseased/inflamed gum into a healthy condition. Pertaining to the cavity, that is due to an internal problem of the tooth due to tooth decay. So, at what stage your tooth disease is, needs to be evaluated. If it’s is advanced, both the treatments might be required

Need to clinically and radiographically evaluate. Always remember that if the cavity is deep and touching the pulp area ( which dentist  can decide after seeing the X ray and can also explain you) then you require a Root canal for sure but for anything an x ray is the most important thing to come to a proper diagnosis.

Will have to see your xray to comment on the actual condition. Exposed roots do lead to sensitivity and so does a deep cavity.

If you have a cavity which is deep you will require a root canal treatment. If it is a combined endo perio lesion then perio treatment is also required. Clinical examination and X-ray is required to give you proper advice
