Regarding tooth paste

2021-10-14 04:45:04
Hello Dr, My son is 3.8 years old. I am using fluoride medicated cheerio gel tooth paste since he was 3 years old. He swallows the paste maximum times. Is it safe? Can it cause worms? Can it cause any other side effects?

You have to make sure he doesn't swallow the toothpaste. After brushing is done, ask him to simply spit out all the paste, without taking any water. Most of the paste will be out tgis way. Then make him rinse with some water to remove remaining paste.

Hello.. I advice you also brush along with the child or at least make him brush under your supervision.. Small amount of tooth paste swallowing is safe...no dangers in it.. But advice him to spit it.. It won't cause any worms, but more amount of tooth paste swallowing may cause bloating stomach.. Teach him to spit.. Thank you..

Hello, Teach the child how to spit while rinsing. Use only pea size tooth paste. Brush the teeth in circular motion. If the child swallows a larger quantity of toothpaste in subsequent days, it will cause side effects

Children generally learn by mimicking. So try to do so in front of your kid. Encourage him to spit. Since he is 3.8, he can learn if you try. Yes, swallowing daily can have side effects. Still have queries then please consult with doctor online or offline for better guidance and treatment options.

At 3.8 years you should start to teach him to spit. You show him how when you brush and encourage him to repeat your actions. Use only a pea size amount of paste for his age and it should be alright.
