Query about STD panel testing
Hi All. my query is does taking supplements like NAC or Herbal Medicines (Arjuna etc.) or Whey Protein etc affects STD panel testing like HIV 1/2, TPHA, VDRL, HCV, HbsAg, HSV, Gonnorhea, Chlamydia Urine pcr.
I am taking them as a preventive health checkup and last sexual exposure was 6 months ago.

Take Balanced diet which is mentioned below,
1/3 of food plate should contain bread ( or 4 roti ), pasta, potato and rice.
1/3 of food plate should contain fruits and vegetables.
1/9 of food plate should contain fish, meat, egg, beans and other non dairy sources of protein.
1/9 of food plate should contain milk and dairy foods.
1/9 of food plate should contain food and drink high in fat and/ or sugar.
plus a glass of milk daily.

Nope the things u mentioned will not affect STD panel testing. But some medications and medical conditions may affect and occasionally cause false positive or negative reports. If u want to know about this u can connect with me in this app. I'll be happy to help you.

NAC, whey protein, or herbal supplements generally do not interfere with standard STD test results, but disclose all supplements to your doctor.
At 6 months after exposure, most standard STI tests are generally reliable for screening.

NAC, herbal medicines and whey protein generally do not affect standard HIV, hepatitis, syphilis or urine PCR results.
Since the exposure was 6 months ago, testing now is conclusive for most infections.
Please get HIV Ag/Ab, HBsAg, anti-HCV, syphilis testing and urine NAAT for gonorrhoea/chlamydia as indicated.

No these supplements generally do not affect results of STD panel testing

You can go ahead with the tests without stopping NAC, Arjuna or whey protein. These are antibody, antigen and PCR based tests. Dietary supplements have no effect on them.

Tell the lab what you take anyway, so it is on record. At six months since exposure, one round of testing is enough for a preventive check.
