It’s usually given to support pregnancy. The rationale behind it is if patient has luteal phase defect where there is deficiency of progesterone, the outcome of IUI is not favourable.
When you have spent good amount for the treatment ie IUI , it’s rather advisable to spend some more for good chances of having positive outcome.
In medicine, all is not black and white, sometimes it’s grey too !
