Weight gain during pregnancy is a very subjective thing. It may be called correct amount of weight gain depending on your pre pregnancy weight.
Gaining 9-11 kg weight during total pregnancy is normal. The weight gain during the first 3 months is usually less due to loss of appetite and nausea and vomiting.
If one is underweight when she gets
pregnant, if may be good for her to put on some extra kgs. But if a patient is already overweight to begin with, she should ideally not gain more than 5-7 kg in her entire pregnancy.
During antenatal check ups, if your baby's growth is within normal limits, then this much weight gain also is normal.
The protein powders that are available, most of them have huge amount of added sugars. So having a protein powder may not be advised by me. Instead you can consume more protein in your diet.
One egg per day, milk and milk products ( milk, buttermilk, curd, paneer) , thoroughly cooked non veg food( fish and chicken) , sprouts, soyabean ( tofu or the soyabean chunks or the soyabean atta mixed with wheat atta to make chapatis) are good options.
