By temporary filling, I am assuming he made temporary crowns for the front teeth..
If that's the case, then the swelling of the gums must be due to procedure done as well as the irritation from the margins of the temporary crowns or some excess cement which was used to fix the temporary crowns..
This will subside within a couple of days.. Till then you can apply Dologel CT to the swollen gums to aid in healing..

Visit your dentist one week later, as scheduled.. If he has not scheduled you for the final crowns, then call him up and ask him about the same..
