Pain in tailbone

2016-06-19 15:06:00
My sister broke her leg in 2014 and was in bedrest for a month. Once she started walking again, she started experiencing a very harsh pain in her tailbone when she sat in one position for too long, while getting up. This was a very rare happening and we thought it would go away with time but recently. The became worse when she started exercising. She has stopped now but everytime she gets up, it hurts very badly while getting up and she has to get up slowly and at a certain angle to avoid pain.

Plz get the condition assessed for time being she can use icing or sitting in hot water tub to relieve some pain for couple of hours. Guidance to appropriate medication and physiotherapy can be provided only after through examination.

She probably had tail bone injury during the accident. The condition is known as Coccygodynia. She will require to do an Xray Sacrococcygeal spine (AP and lateral). She has to start using a ring cushion (air cushion which is hollow in the centre). It is available in the medical stores. She has to use it for sitting wherevershe sits

Hello. Well she needs to be examined for that...without examining its difficult to come to a conclusion what it is...probably there is a minor fracture of the tail bone which is leading to the continuous pain...buy nothing is conclusive...I need to see her examine her..it's better you get done x Ray too...consult an orthopaedician. Thank you

Ur sis must hav injured the tail bone when she had the accident or must hav injured the area near the tail bone due to wrong sitting when she was on bed rest.... Adv her nt to exercise,.She can try ice pack or contrast bath in a tub to reduce the swelling in the area.if pain does nt reduce in intensity it is better to go to a physiotherapist for a few sittings of Short wave diathermy n ultra sound.
