I am going through a rough patch in life and on the top of it i am feeling continuous fear and anxiety. Even the things which are not important are worrying me. I am always assuming the worst. And even if I want I can't stop myself from focussing on the negative

You seem to be going through anxiety, as mentioned by you. I am of the opinion that you have to seek professional mind-care help because you seem to be unable to handle your state of mind yourself for a reasonably long time. My suggestion to you would be to seek an assessment of your condition by a psychiatrist and take medication for some time, if the doctor recommends that. You may consult a psychologist once you feel better after your consultation with the psychiatrist, to explore possibilities of maintaining your mental wellness in the time ahead. Visiting a psychiatrist (and even a psychologist) is often avoided by many even when the situation warrants that. Hope you will not hesitate to seek the suggested professional help which, I feel, is likely to improve the quality of your life.

Hi... During and after this pandemic, lock down, and economic downturn, these kinds of issues are on a rise along with other physical and mental health issues. In your particular case I believe it's a combination of cognitive and psychosocial factors but a poor or unhealthy routine may be adding on to it. Try to first regulate a healthy routine in terms of proper and timely meals, sleep, exercise, and breathing/meditation. In the meantime try to find a therapist (online/offline) that you will be comfortable sharing your cognitive and psychosocial issues including your personal relationships, family, job, finances, etc. It will help you get your thoughts and emotions in order and will help you have much more control over your mind.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychologist. CBT along with Lifestyle Changes and Interpersonal Guidance and Counselling is required.
