Neck pain which are since long are mainly due to degenerative changes happening at your neck. Causes includes bad posture while working, genetics and others.
In your case I think it’s a bad posture while working plus unassisted lifting weights.
Depend upon the info you have given I think you are suffering from cervical radiculopathy.
Since it’s a long condition I will suggest you do to on MRI before doing anything else.
2. I will suggest you to avoid gym for now until we find out the cause of your pain.

HBa1C is too high for a 35 year old guy. I will suggest you to get fit and control you
sugar level after consulting with a good physician near by you. Though it’s not indirectly related to gym but avoid strenuous exercises for now. Get it control with diet.
