I was adviced to take metformin 500mg BD, before breakfast and dinner. started last month only. but now I'm having gastritis since last week. what should be the ideal time gap between metformin and food intake to avoid gastritis? should it be taken half hour before food or along with the food or after food??

Metformin is a gastric irritant so take it with food. Food will help in reducing the symptoms. Metformin also decrease the absorption of vit b12. Drink plenty of water. Avoid spicy and oily food. You need take proton pump inhibitor for few days in the morning.
