Dear human, thank you for sharing and reaching out. I understand that you're going through a difficult time in your life but I appreciate you for reaching out, it takes courage. As you've mentioned, it's a good idea to seek therapy for your concerns as you would get a safe space to express yourself, share your concerns and to heal without facing any judgements.
Meanwhile you could follow some techniques to cope with your mental health concerns:
1. Practice journalling - Write down your thoughts exactly as is daily. Spend some time for journalling daily as it helps to vent your thoughts, emotions and feelings in a healthy way, and also reflect on your thoughts to understand what exactly is bothering you.
2. Practice mindfulness - Being mindful meaning being present at the moment without thinking about past or future. Even if thoughts flow through, we tend to accept it in a non-judgemental manner rather than ignoring or suppressing it.
You can practice mindfulness through grounding techniques like 5-4-3-2-1, where in you can name five things that you see around you, four things that you can hear, three things that you can touch, two things that you can smell and one thing that you can taste.
Also a breathing technique - 4-7-8 wherein you inhale for four seconds, hold breath for seven second and exhale for eight seconds.
3. Exercise everyday - Adopt any form of physical movement that is most suitable for you. If you're opting for workout, create attainable fitness goals and follow a proper diet. This is a healthy way to channelize your emotions.
4. Try art journal - Journalling not necessarily involves only writing, it also involves drawing, painting, creating collages, etc. You could draw/paint whatever you feel like at the moment just to express yourself. You don't have to be an artist to maintain an art journal, just go with flow.
