Side effects can occur with any medicine, just be aware. Not all get it. Duovir n can cause anemia, peripheral neuropathy and can be toxic to liver.

DUOVIR N is a Fixed Dose Combination of 3 Anti-viral Drugs which contains LAMIVUDINE 150MG + ZIDOVUDINE 300MG + NEVIRAPINE 200MG used for HIV treatment. Like all medicines, it can have side effects, but many patients tolerate it well when taken regularly under medical supervision. Common side effects may include nausea, weakness, headache, dizziness, rash, sleep disturbance, or loss of appetite. Some patients may also develop anemia or liver-related issues. Do not stop the medicine suddenly without consulting your treating physician, as irregular use can affect treatment response.
Next Steps
1. Continue medicine as prescribed. 2. Get regular CBC and liver function tests. 3. If severe rash, jaundice, persistent vomiting, breathing difficulty, or marked weakness occurs, seek urgent medical care. 4. Follow up with your HIV specialist for regimen review if side effects persist. Overall, if monitored properly, it is generally safe and effective.
Health Tips
Take daily, never stop suddenly, attend followup visits and report rash and jaundice immediately. DUOVIR N is an older regimen. Newer regimens may have fewer side effects. Discuss with your HIV specialist.

Most individuals tolerate Duovir N (a combination of Lamivudine, Zidovudine, and Nevirapine) quite well. However, it is normal to experience some 'adjustment symptoms' during the first two weeks of the 28-day course. These symptoms are purely pharmacological reactions to the medicine and are not signs of an HIV infection. Understanding these common effects can help reduce the anxiety you are currently feeling."
Next Steps
Common Side Effects: "Be prepared for mild nausea, headaches, or a temporary feeling of fatigue. Some people also experience vivid dreams or mild sleep disturbances. These usually settle down on their own as your body adapts to the medication." Monitoring Liver & Blood: "Since Zidovudine and Nevirapine can occasionally affect blood counts or liver enzymes, I recommend a baseline Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Liver Function Test (LFT) now, to be repeated after completing the 28-day course." Hydration & Nutrition: "Drink at least 3 liters of water daily and eat small, frequent meals to minimize nausea. Taking the medication at a consistent time each day—ideally after food—can also reduce stomach upset."

Duovir-N has nevirapine — risky for HIV-negative people (liver damage, severe rash). Not a recommended PEP regimen. Stop self-medicating. Book a paid consult with me today to review need for PEP, switch safely & order LFTs. Watch for rash/jaundice.

Most people tolerate it well. Some experience mild nausea, headache, or fatigue in the first few weeks — these usually settle. The things that need attention are: persistent tiredness or paleness , yellowing of eyes or dark urine. With regular monitoring and consistent dosing, the medicine is safe and effective long-term.
