Yes it can. Nowadays back pain is very common in our society. The main reason of this pain is poor posture, prolonged period of sitting activities, weak muscles, no stretching exercises or any accident. Medicines will give you temporary relief. As soon as you will stop taking medications you might experience the same pain again.
Next Steps
Improve your posture, avoid lifting heavy objects in wrong position, avoid jerky movements, do exercise regularly.
Health Tips
Try to consult your nearby physiotherapist for proper assessment and exercises.

It depends upon the underlying cause for your backpain, if it is postural then no medicine will help for long-term.. so better consult ur physiotherapist/ Manual therapist or ergonomist

If the exacerbating factor is not identified then it can continue for long, only pain killers won't help coz they give symptomatic relief only(it masks pain for sometime) Visit a good physiotherapist, let them identify the cause and then it can be treated without medicines with proper targetted exs and manual therapy and u please continue exs taught for good one month at least
