Looking to remove the Rod in my hand

I had an accident in 2013, and have a rod in my hand post that, now I have a slight pain sometimes and I am looking to remove the Rod from my hand. What scanning should I be doing to check the status of the rod is it a hand X-ray and which doctor should I be consulting.

It is very unlikely that any surgeon would leave a rod in your hand for such a long time . Need to see your xray.

Yes. Its a Hand x-ray AP & oblique views if it's the hand. Or X-ray of the Wrist AP & Lateral if it's around the wrist joint. Orthopaedic surgeon must've done the surgery so and orthopaedic surgeon you must consult with.
