Fasting is not always required for
liver function tests (LFTs). LFTs typically measure levels of various enzymes and proteins in the blood, including alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST),
alkaline phosphatase (ALP), bilirubin, and
albumin. These tests can generally be performed without fasting.
However, there are a few considerations:
Lipid Levels: If your liver function test panel includes lipid levels (like cholesterol or
triglycerides), fasting may be required as lipid levels can be affected by recent food intake.
